Island Inn Sanibel

Island Inn Sanibel is an historic inn on Sanibel Island, located off the west coast of Florida in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Our tradition of family oriented hospitality began in 1895, when Will and Harriet Matthews and their four children left the harsher climate of the north to relocate to southwest Florida. Entertaining friends was their passion, and that dedication to offering a relaxing and peaceful getaway in a close sense of community continues today.

The Inn offers 10 acres of spacious grounds and a very large beachfront of 550 feet. However, with only 57 units and the horseshoe configuration of our campus, it’s easy to promote the friendly community and warm, personalized service, which is a hallmark of South Florida hospitality.

Guests enjoy our sandy white beaches with opportunities for swimming, fishing, and fantastic shelling. Even with the warm and inviting Gulf of Mexico right out our front door, guests can still relax in our enclosed swimming pool.

Our private tennis courts are snuggled into a grove setting of seagrape trees, palms & flowering shrubs, while a butterfly garden borders a grassy croquet court. We have two shuffleboard courts by the Gulf's edge, or ping pong for leisurely fun. Our dining facilities are family friendly, with a special kids’ menu. And if, during a fishing expedition, you catch it, we’ll cook it.
